San Francisco 49ers wide receiver, Brandon Aiyuk, has signed a new deal for 4 years making up to $120 million. In the 2023 season, Aiyuk had the best season of his career where he caught 75 passes, 1,342 receiving yards, and 7 touchdowns. He ended his holdout on August 29th, 2024, making 49ers fans happy and feeling real good about the upcoming season. However, now that the season has begun and they are three games in, the 49er fans are not happy with his play on the field so far. Brandon Aiyuk right now has 11 catches for 119 yards with no touchdowns with the team being 1-2 including last week’s choke job versus their rival, the Los Angeles Rams.
Similar to Dak Prescott, the Dallas Cowboys quarterback, who also started the first three games of the season struggling, Brandon Aiyuk will need to have a bounce back game in week 4 versus the New England Patriots this Sunday. Prescott managed to have a good game in the Cowboys victory over their rivals, the New York Giants on Thursday night football last night. Me being a San Francisco 49er fan, I am hoping Aiyuk will have similar results. One thing about fans of sports teams, especially if a star player holds out for more money, they will start pocket watching and putting every game you play under a microscope. What comes with that is a lot of criticism from fans, sometimes unfair, and a lot more pressure on that player. I am hoping Brandon Aiyuk can handle the pressure and take it up a notch on the field. If not, Niner Nation is going to want him gone this offseason.
